Jaleel Awini excelled on the football field and in the classroom as a student at Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colorado. He kept up a 3.75 grade point average, and was the sports editor on the school newspaper.
Jaleel Awini was also the starting quarterback of the football team, and took them to the Class 5A state quarterfinals in his senior year. He won a scholarship to the Air Force Academy, and after two seasons there transferred to the University of Colorado.
